If I have a suggested income tax return, should I file an Income Tax Return?
The suggested income tax return in Colombia is an alternative offered by the National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN) to natural persons with income coming solely from work, capital, non-work income or pensions. This return is editable and helps the taxpayer to know the exogenous information reported by third parties, thus facilitating the process of filing the income tax return. In order to access the suggested income tax return, the taxpayer must meet certain requirements. The suggested income tax return will be available from August 12 to October 24 of each year and is a free service offered by the DIAN.
Truth be told, the suggested income tax return is an indication or alert from the tax administration, in which it detects deviations from the income limits to be submitted by the taxpayer, of course this does not mean that the taxpayer must pay income tax because in most cases I have seen it at zero.
On the other hand, this can be taken as an indicator of whether or not I should file this tax return.
